Grading of Skill Level

Indoor Volleyball
Recreational (Rec)
These teams/players are new to volleyball or play very little volleyball. Focus is on getting the ball back over the net rather than setting the ball for an attack.
Intermediate (Inter)
These teams/players are starting to play with 1-2 designated setters and set positions. Some rallies will have a pass, set, and medium attack.
Advanced (Adv)
These teams/players play with set positions, "middle hitters" and 1-2 designated setters. They attempt to run a "quick" at some time in the game. There will be more rallies that end in a hard attack.
Competitive (Comp)
These teams/players play set positions with 1 or 2 designated setters. Their serve reception consists of 4 or less passers. "Quicks" and "tempo sets" are attempted off of "free balls".
Beach Volleyball
Recreational (Rec)
These teams/players are fairly new to volleyball or play once or twice a summer. Most rallies involve putting the ball over the net on the first hit. Players are more serious about having fun in the sun, rather than playing volleyball.
Intermediate (Inter)
These teams/players are starting to play with 1-2 designated setters and set positions. Some rallies will have a pass, set, and medium attack. These teams/players still lack the ball control to start playing beach 4's.
Advanced (Adv)
These teams/players have been playing beach 4s for a few seasons now. They have hitters that can find the open spots or put the ball away somewhat consistently. Their passing and control is good, however it is not consistent enough to play against the bigger hitters in Competitive 4s.
Competitive (Comp)
These teams/players are very comfortable playing beach 4s. They have strong hitters, good blocking and solid passing ability. Most rallies result in a hard attack.
Court Dodgeball
Recreational (Rec)
These teams/players primarily consist of new dodgeballers. The last time the majority of these players have played any dodgeball was in grade 6 gym class. The teams/players are out to enjoy being active with friends/family/coworkers.
Advanced (Adv)
These teams/players have been playing court dodgeball a few seasons each year. Players are still out for a fun time but they are looking to up their skills and play more games against COMP level teams by using more strategies for a more methodical game play.
Intermediate (Inter)
These teams/players have some experience playing dodgeball however very little of it was organized. It may still be a new sport for nearly 50% of the players on each team. Teams/players are using minimal strategy.
Competitive (Comp)
These teams/players regularly play organized dodgeball. These teams/players have a good sense of strategies and technique to help them win and are made up of many players that can dodge, throw and catch.
Trampoline Dodgeball
Recreational (Rec)
These teams/players primarily consist of new dodgeballers. The last time the majority of these players have played any dodgeball was in grade 6 gym class. The teams/players are down to try this new sport, and to enjoy being active with friends/family/coworkers.
Intermediate (Inter)
These teams/players have played dodgeball and perhaps some trampoline dodgeball, however very little of it was organized. It may still be a new sport for nearly 50% of the players on each team. Teams/players are using minimal strategy.
Advanced (Adv)
These teams/players have been playing either court dodgeball or trampoline dodgeball a few seasons each year. Players are still out for a fun time but they are looking to up their skills and play more games against COMP level teams by using more strategies for a more methodical game play.
Competitive (Comp)
These teams/players regularly play organized dodgeball. These teams/players have a good sense of strategies and technique to help them win. Most players that can dodge, throw, and catch.
Pickleball
Recreational (Rec)
These teams/playersare still learning the rules and may lack experience in paddle sports or sports in general. Their primary goal is to enjoy the game with a light-hearted approach, rather than focusing on skill advancement.
Intermediate (Inter)
These teams/players are familiar with the rules and are starting to incorporate basic strategies for gameplay. Or may be new to the sport but have strong backgrounds in other sports with high coordination.
Advanced (Adv)
These teams/players possess a strong understanding of the game and regularly engage in consistent rallies with strategic gameplay.
Competitive (Comp)
These teams/players possess a very strong understanding of the game, and crave a higher level of competition pushing the boundaries of their pickleball skills.
